The construction of the Camp del Ferro Sports Center will start in the last quarter of 2017. Located in Pare Manyanet street, in La Sagrera, two of the three equipment pavilions will be buried. The building, sustainable and made of ceramic elements, has an execution period of 18 months.

The Camp del Ferro sports center will build a part of the 26,600 square meter placed in C/ Pare Manyanet, 40, in La Sagrera. It is a triple pavilion in which you can practice basketball, soccer, roller hockey or figure skating. The total constructed area will be 7,600 square meters and will have a capacity for 1,600 people.

The executive project is scheduled to be delivered in mid-December. The AIA Salazar Navarro architecture studio, in collaboration with Barceló-Balanzó Architects and Gustau Gili Galfetti studios, was the winner of the public tender called by BIMSA. The sports equipment is designed to be integrated into the urban space of La Sagrera. According to Juan Carlos Navarro, architect and director of the Camp del Ferro project, it will be built with ceramic materials and brickwork to remember the industrial past of the neighbourhood. The intention of the architects is to minimize the impact of the new construction and, therefore, also two of the three pavilions of the sports center will be buried.

The building will be sustainable. The orientation of the equipment in the space and also the ventilation and thermal saving systems have been taken into account. In fact, according to Navarro, these have been some of the requirements of the sports entities that will be housed. The Club Patí Congrés and the Sant Andreu Sports Association have been able to participate in the design of the sports center.

The construction works, of about 12 million euros, will begin during the last quarter of 2017 and the expected execution period is 18 months.
