The transformation of block 7 of Can Batlló to the new EMAV begins

In block 7 of Can Batlló, the School of Audiovisual Media will have an estimated area of 5,460 m2, which will accommodate up to 600 students, instead of the 425 that currently has the school at the headquarters of Laietana. At the same time, the transformation of an old factory building into an audiovisual creation center puts the building in value, preserving its technical heritage and the essence of the existing structural elements, but providing it with a new high value added activity, with spaces for both creation and development of new technologies and knowledge.

The new EMAV will be well visible from the Gran Vía de las Corts Catalanes, an important entrance and exit of the city. The wall that until now closed the enclosure and covered the ship will be lowered until leaving only the support for a landscaped slope that will highlight the view of the rehabilitated building.

These works are part of the process of transformation of the whole of the old factory site of Can Batlló, which has accelerated in recent months with the acquisition of various spaces by the City Council and the processing of a Modification of the General Plan Metropolitan to redistribute the spaces and citizen uses that will be developed.
